Blue is an adolescent girl who lives with her father Ham, a jazz musician. Ham becomes gravely ill and eventually dies, leaving Blue on her own. Elle, the brothel's headmistress, convinces her to live and work there. She decides to resign from the business and resume a more normal life. Elle is adamant about never having one.
