Satan-worshiper Prince Prospero invites the nobility into his castle to get protection against an plague, the Red Death. He orders his guests to attend a ball and, amidst a feeling of depravity and debauchery, notices the entrance of a stranger dressed all in crimson. Believing the figure Satan, Prospero is horrified at the revelation of his real identity.
