Myrtle Gordon is a functioning alcoholic actor who is just days away from the opening night of her latest play, about a lady who is distraught over aging. One night, a car strikes and kills one of Myrtle's followers who is pursuing her limousine in an attempt to attract the star's attention. Myrtle internalizes the accident and embarks on a spiritual journey, but she is unable to find the answers she seeks. As opening night approaches, delicate Myrtle must devise a method to keep the play going.
