After World War II, Antonia and her daughter, Danielle, return to their Dutch hometown, where a little farm has been bestowed by Antonia mum up on her. There, Antonia melts and combines a community that is tightly-knit but odd. Those around her comprise prospective suitor Bas, friend Crooked Finger and for Antonia, great granddaughter and a grand daughter who help make a strong category of empowered women.
